The Team at Rickety Gate

Russell & Linda Hubbard founded Rickety Gate in January 2000.

They have had an appreciation and passion for fine wines for many years and decided to take up the challenge to produce a small range of ultra premium wines for their friends, family and "their friends, friends".
Their commitment to producing quality means that they undertake the majority of work within the vineyard themselves, as they are acutely aware that "Quality wine is made in the vineyard".

The relocation from a leafy south of the river city suburb of Perth, Western Australia to the rolling green hills and beautiful valleys of Denmark, Western Australia took place on the 1st January 2000.

This change of lifestyle saw the swapping of boardrooms, offices, shopping malls and traffic jams for the wide open spaces of a very special piece of land 430 Kms south of Perth which is located on the south coast of Western Australia.

Peter Paull

Peter has worked with us in the vineyard since 2002.


We met Peter whilst doing a Viticulture course at the Denmark TAFE in 2001. Peter is of European decent and as such is enthusiastic about wine grape growing (especially the red variety, he hastens to add) and is a master of the veggie patch.

Peter fits into Rickety Gate extremely well as he is as fastidious as we are about the vines. Peter is a staunch "Dockers" supporter and a keen listener of the "Ted Bull" radio program. Oh well, one out of two isn't bad!!
